IEP Manager & BCBA completes the 1:1 ESP Determination Forms - Student Observation Form A, and reviews with ISD 917 Site-based administrator to determine if behaviors warrant moving ahead with procedures for determining the need for a 1:1 Educational Support Professional.

The internal school team (school administrator, IEP manager, BCBA, School Social Worker, School Psychologist, Related Service Providers, or any other site-based team members) meets to review the following:

  • 3-year re-evaluation

  • IEP

  • FBA

  • PBSP

  • Form B-Data Tracking - completed before the meeting

The team implements new interventions, strategies, assistive technology, visual supports, and/or sensory supports to address the needs as determined by the internal school team. 

The internal review team will determine the type of data to be collected (duration, frequency, etc)

The IEP manager contacts the member district regarding the concerns about student needs, and that the ISD 917 team has begun data collection to support intervention, which may include the need for a 1:1 ESP.

Data is reviewed by the internal school team. As a result of this review:

  • Determination is made that no further supports are needed.

OR

  • Determination is made that the full IEP team, including the member district representative and parent/guardian, will meet to review the data and discuss the 1:1 Educational Support Professional.

    • The IEP Manager will reach out to the member district representative before the IEP meeting to notify them of ISD 917’s recommendation for a 1:1 to support the student’s needs.

The IEP Manager will schedule an IEP team meeting. The team must include a member district representative who is qualified to approve the addition of a 1:1 Educational Support Professional.

An IEP meeting is convened to review the data with the team following the protocol/discussion points outlined on the Student Assistant Discussion Guide (Form C).

The IEP team determines adaptations, accommodations, and services, including a 1:1 Educational Support Professional, required to meet the student’s identified needs.

The IEP Manager completes an amendment to the IEP to reflect the addition of the 1:1 Education Support Professional and any other changes as discussed in the IEP meeting.

The assistant director completes the HR process to post a position for hiring a 1:1 Educational Support Professional.
