ISD 917 at the CTE Career & College Fair

The Dakota County Perkins Consortium CTE Career and College Fair at Hastings High School on 12/8/22 was a fantastic event with nearly 70 vendors and 800 students from seven school districts!  Feedback from participants and vendors demonstrated strong satisfaction with the event.  Students engaged in meaningful conversations with industry professionals, business owners, and representatives from 2-year and 4-year colleges and universities.  They made meaningful connections and were introduced to some new career and post-secondary opportunities in the Minnesota CTE career fields:

  • Agriculture, Food & Natural Resources
  • Arts, Communications, & Information Systems
  • Engineering, Manufacturing, & Technology
  • Health Science Technology
  • Human Services
  • Business, Management, & Administration

Huge thanks to the staff and students who attended the event and to each of the following for contributing to the event's success:

  • Jody Geib (Hastings High School Career & College Coordinator) and Marci Levy-Maguire (Dakota County Perkins Consortium Coordinator) for organizing!
  • Noelle Meyer (Simley High School Work Experience Coordinator) & Megan Kimble (Simley High School College and Career Counselor) for designing a CTE Career & College Fair Passport to guide students' conversations with vendors!
  • Our incredible vendors for their thoughtful discussions with students and staff about careers and post-secondary opportunities to prepare for high-skill, high-wage jobs!
  • The Minnesota National Guard for donating and transporting tables for the event!
  • Ben Kusch (Tri-District Career and College Readiness Initiative Lead Designer) and Hastings High School staff and students for helping set up and and/or clean up from the event!
  • The Dakota County Perkins Consortium member districts and their representatives for collaborating to support this effort!
  • Hastings High School students who supported check-in of vendors and participants!
