Algebra 2 - Offered as Independent Study with Teacher Guidance

This class is broken into thirds. In Algebra 2A students will focus on linear functions, linear systems and matrices. Algebra 2B is independent and students learn about quadratic, polynomial, exponential and logarithmic functions. Algebra 2C is also independent and work is continued on functions, conic sections, probability and statistics, sequences and series, and trigonometric functions.

When working on assignments outside of class, students can get help by going to the following website: go.hrw.com once on the website, there is a box in the lower left corner to enter a keyword. Use MB7 x-x with x-x being the lesson number. (Example: MB7 1-3 will bring you to the examples for Lesson  1-3 Square Roots)

Integrated Math

This class incorporates Algebra, Geometry, and Probability & Statistics through several themed units.

Math Art

This class allows students to apply fundamental math concepts and basic geometry in art projects. Some activities are prescribed and some are more open ended which allow for creativity.

Geometry - Offered as Independent Study with Teacher Guidance

This class is broken into thirds. In Geometry A students focus on Foundations of Geometry,Geometric Reasoning, Parallel and Perpendicular Lines and Triangle Congruence. Geometry B is independent and you will further study Triangles, Polygons and Quadrilaterals, Similarity and Right Triangle Trigonometry. Geometry C is also independent and require work with Perimeter, Circumference and Area, Spatial Reasoning, Circles and Extending Transformational Geometry.

When working on assignments outside of class, students can get help by going to the following website: go.hrw.com once on the website, there is a box in the lower left corner to enter a keyword. Use MG7 x-x with x-x being the lesson number. (Example: MG7 1-4 will bring you to the examples for Lesson 1-4 Pairs of Angles)

Online Classes

In addition to regular classes at DCALS, students have the opportunity to take classes through our online program, Odysseyware. Many of these classes are set up for credit recovery. What this means is that it is possible to test out of parts of the classes that have been learned previously. If a class has already been set up through Pam, Patti or John, students can go directly to the online program and begin or continue working. If students are interested, they should see their adviser or stop in to see me to discuss the classes that are offered. As always, let me know if there are questions about this program.
