Career and Tech Ed

The Dakota County Secondary Technical Center provides technical education for high school students in 10th, 11th, and 12th grade in the southeast suburbs through 9 technical programs:

-Career Exploration and Evaluation Program
-CISCO Networking Academy & Computer Service and Repair
-Video Game Animation and Design
-Construction Trades
-Food Industry Careers 
-Fundamental Chef Training 
-Graphic Communications I
-Graphic Communications II
-Heavy Duty Truck Technology I & II
-Medical Careers I - Nursing Assisting/Home Health Aide 
-Medical Careers I - Medical Terminology
-Total Auto Care - Vehicle Service & Auto Body

High school students are eligible to enroll in any of the technical career areas offered and attend technical classes as part of the high school day by attending one of three 100-minute periods. During class, students learn in a hands-on setting with relevant business and industry technology. Some of the opportunities available to students include:

  •   Technical education while in high school
  •   Bus transportation from the student's home school
  •   Exploration of career opportunities
  •   Development of job skills
  •   No tuition
  •   Fall Open House

To enroll, students should visit with their home school's counselor for an application form or call (651) 423-8458, or (651) 423-8259 for more information. Open enrollment times are scheduled at the end of Quarter one, two and three and Trimester one and two.
